Property Setup

Property Setup is how you define your physical layout in LodgeBeam — the hierarchy of sections, spaces, and beds that mirrors your actual property.

Hierarchy

LodgeBeam uses a three-level hierarchy:

Property
  └── Sections (floors, wings, zones)
        └── Spaces (rooms, common areas)
              └── Beds (individual bed positions)

Sections

Sections are the top-level division of your property. Examples:

  • Floor 1, Floor 2, Floor 3
  • East Wing, West Wing
  • Ground Level, Upper Level

Spaces

Spaces are rooms or areas within a section. Examples:

  • Private rooms (Room 101, Room 102)
  • Dormitories (Dorm A, Dorm B)
  • Common areas (Kitchen, Lounge, Bathroom)

Beds

Beds are individual sleeping positions within a space. Private rooms typically have one bed. Dorms have multiple beds, each tracked individually for occupancy.

Draft and Confirm Workflow

Property setup uses a two-step workflow to prevent half-finished changes from affecting operations:

  1. Draft — Make your changes (add, edit, remove sections/spaces/beds)
  2. Confirm — Review and confirm to apply changes permanently

Changes are not visible to housekeepers or other staff until confirmed.

Bulk Operations

  • Add multiple beds — Create several beds in a space at once
  • Import/Export — Manage structure data in bulk
  • Reorder — Arrange sections and spaces in your preferred order

Snapshot History

Every confirmed change creates a snapshot. You can review the history of structural changes to your property, which is useful for:

  • Auditing changes over time
  • Understanding past configurations
  • Troubleshooting assignment issues

Tips

  • Set up sections first, then spaces, then beds
  • Use descriptive names that match your property's existing signage
  • Configure bed-by-bed for dorms to enable accurate occupancy tracking
  • Review the hierarchy after major renovations or reconfigurations
